The Ritual of the Calling of an Engineer
July 02, 2020 Spring 2020 Iron Ring Ceremony Cancellation Update.
With the continuing uncertainty about when we can hold a future ceremony, Camp 8 has decided to refund all ticket and registration fees collected for the spring 2020 ceremony that was scheduled for March 24th and subsequently cancelled. Please register for your reimbursement via the following link Camp8 Spring 2020 Ceremony Reimbursement. Over the subsequent weeks we will be initiating an E-transfer to reimburse you.
We have set up an email account specifically for this cancelled ceremony. If you have questions or comments, please send an email to Camp8.IronRing.Refunds@gmail.com . As well, once we know when we can hold another ceremony, we will be sending an e-blast from this account.
The Ritual of the Calling of an Engineer dates back to the 1920s. At the ceremony, graduating engineering students and those with acceptable qualifications take the Obligation Oath and are presented with the Iron Ring. Uniquely Canadian, the Ritual operates through "Camps" located across the Country. Camp 8 is the only camp operating in Manitoba.

NOTICE to candidates registered for Ritual of the Calling of an Engineer on March 24. 2020
The Wardens of Camp 8 continue to monitor the rapidly evolving situation of COVID-19 in our community. Our top priorities are the health and safety of the participants in our Obligation Ceremony and ensuring that we responsibly protect our local community. As such we are postponing the Obligation Ceremony that was scheduled for March 24, 2020. An alternative ceremony will be scheduled for the Fall 2020 or Spring 2021 and Candidates will be informed of any updates when they become available.
The Ritual of the Calling of an Engineer is a unique and meaningful experience for all new engineers and we share your disappointment in this situation. That said, our priority is to protect the health and safety of all participants and the local community. Your understanding in this matter is greatly appreciated.
